A N O T E O F T H A N K S
----------------------------------
A great deal of thanks and love go to my wife, Sandy, my son, Aldo Ray,
and my daughter, Maria Katherine for their support as I was writing this
program. Without them, none of this would mean anything to me.
Thanks are also extended to my partner, Bob Ducker, who provided me with
good "constructive criticism," and who got me started BBS'ing.
Thanks also to Adam Velegol, SysOp of the Digital Wasteland BBS in
Weirton, WV, and to Dana Bonner, SysOp of the Unknown! BBS in Steubenville,
Ohio for serving as a beta test site, and to the many Megalist BBS users who
tested out the game for me.
Finally, unending thanks are extended to my parents, Dominic and Maria
Pucci, who have to be the most supportive parents in the world.WLW Version 5.0 - Users Guide - Page 4

User Supported Software
-----------------------
This program is distributed under the User Supported Software
Concept. User Supported Software is a way to allow you to review the
program, test its operation on your system configurations, and determine
whether or not you feel the program is suitable for you and your users
before you have to register it.
If you find that World League Wrestling fulfills your needs, you
must register your copy. If you do not register it, then you must stop
running it. Registration is mandatory if you decide to use the program and
wish support from the author.
----------------------------
World League Wrestling Files
----------------------------
The following files were distributed by Mountain State
InfoSystems in the MSIWLW5.ZIP file:
WLW5.EXE -- The executable program file to start World League Wrestling
CONFIG.EXE -- Configuration program for easy installation
PLAYER.HLP -- Data file for help screens
MSIWLW5.DOC -- This documentation file
ROUNDx.SCR/CLR - Round Number Screens
RING.SCR/CLR - Ring Screens
SORRY.SCR/CLR - "Failed to Determine Weakness" Screens
The MSIWLW5.ZIP file was created using PKZIP with auto-verification.
Should any of these files not be present after MSIWLW5 was "unzipped," or
should the MSIWLW5 not be the authentic file we sent out, you may download
a good shareware version of World League Wrestling by calling my BBS:

HISTORY OF WORLD LEAGUE WRESTLING
---------------------------------
January 9, 1993
---------------
Mountain State InfoSystems released WLW version 5.0 with the following
additions and modifications:
(1) Included a configuration program for easy installation.
(2) Created a "rounds" system where the player must win two out
of three rounds to win the match.
(3) Added a "weakness" feature where players must enter their three
weaknesses. Each player must determine their opponent's
weaknesses within the first three holds of each round to avoid
losing the round.
(4) Added a "Between Rounds" screen where the player's manager
gives the player a clue as to what his / her opponent's
weaknesses are.
(5) Added some nice (hope you'll think so) round-number screens.
(6) Added a new exit menu screen
(7) New sysop-configurable features that may vary by node include:
- An "stamina points" feature. A bout now requires 300
stamina points. You may configure the daily number
of stamina points allowed. Recommend at least 2000.
The stamina points are saved to a file at the end
of the game. This file will also be read by our
new WORLD LEAGUE BOXING game, which should be out
in February, 1993. This will allow for interaction
between games!
- Optional Additional Advertising (to Display any ANSI or
ASCII advertising of your choosing).
(8) Removed the "History of Champions" and replaced it with the
"Top Ten Wrestlers" screen.
June 7, 1992
------------
Mountain State InfoSystems released WLW version 4.0 with the following
modifications:
(1) Removed the Intercontinental Level. WLW Version 5.0 - Users Guide - Page 6
(2) Added TIME LIMIT and ENERGY LEVEL features. These two features
make version 4.0 much more exciting than the already
enjoyable version 3.1.
(3) Added bulletin features. World League Wrestling is now
capable of generating ASCII and ANSI bulletins, should
the SysOp wish to utilize this feature.
(4) Made WLW compatible with SFDOORS.DAT (Spitfire 3.2).
March 5, 1992
-------------
Mountain State InfoSystems released WLW version 3.1 with the following
modifications:
(1) REMOVED THE SHAREWARE LIMITATION OF 25 USERS as was the case
with previous versions, thus making it fully functional at
the shareware level.
(2) REMOVED THE SHAREWARE 10 SECOND DELAY upon entering WLW.
However, the shareware "Unregistered Version" notice remains.
(3) Allows users to logoff directly from WLW with any compatible
bbs software (previous versions only gave PCBoard this
option).
(4) Removed the "belts" graphic screens upon entering WLW. This
action was taken to allow quicker entrance into the program.
July 15, 1991
-------------
Mountain State InfoSystems released Version 3.0. New Features /
modifications include:
(1) Change in wrestling format. There are two wrestling
levels now -- Intercontinental and Heavyweight. The
Intercontinental level is played like previous
versions of WLW, but with some cosmetic changes.
The Heavyweight level is new, and it features
wrestling against other human players. The winner
of the Heavyweight match is the heavyweight champ;
(2) compatibility with Wildcat! 3.0+ bbs';
(3) increased number of players allowed by shareware
version from 10 to 25;
(4) removed the weightlifting and music features.
We found that most players did not enjoy the
weightlifting feature;
(5) included "managers" to assist you at the Heavyweight
level.

May 11, 1991
------------
Mountain State InfoSystems released Version 2.1, which corrected a
problem that PCBOARD users were experiencing when exiting the game.
Apparently, when WLW was used on a PCBOARD system, it would log the person
off of the system automatically upon exiting the door. WLW now gives PCBOARD
users a prompt to choose whether or not the caller wishes to log off of the
bbs from the door game.
May 7, 1991
-----------
Mountain State InfoSystems released Version 2.0, which is compatible
with the new versions of PCBOARD.SYS, USERS.SYS, CALLINFO.BBS, DOOR.SYS,
DOORINFOx.DEF, AND SFDOORS.DAT. Therefore, systems with which it is now
compatible include the latest versions of PCBOARD, WILDCAT!, WWIV,
RBBS/QBBS/RA, and Spitfire.
An additional feature was added to allow PCBOARD users to log off from
WORLD LEAGUE WRESTLING.
May 5, 1991
-----------
Mountain State InfoSystems released Version 1.0, which was compatible
with systems using PCBOARD.SYS, USERS.SYS, CALLINFO.BBS, DOOR.SYS, and
DOORINFOx.DEF.

Shareware vs. Registered Version of World League Wrestling
----------------------------------------------------------
The REGISTERED version (5.0) of World League Wresting has the following
characteristics:
<1> The shareware notices are removed.
<2> The "Latest Poll of WLW Players" Screen is removed.
Along with removing the notice screens, registration of World League
Wrestling (Version 5.0) will entitle you to technical support via

About World League Wrestling
----------------------------
World League Wrestling is a take off of professional wrestling, which is
very popular with people of all ages. The following are instructions taken
from the online help file "PLAYER.HLP."
The object of the game is to win two out of three rounds. You must
attack your opponent at one of his or her weaknesses by the third
maneuver you use in each round, or you will lose the round. Of
course, to attack your opponent at his / her weakness requires
that you determine what his / her weaknesses are.
At the beginning of each game, you are to select three of YOUR
weaknesses. Then when another person plays World League Wrestling
and wrestles you, he / she will need to determine what your three
weaknesses are.
There are three ways you can win a round:
The FIRST is to score 2000 points before your opponent does;
The SECOND is to have more points than your opponent when
the round has reached its time limit;
The THIRD is when your opponent runs out of energy.
The heavyweight champion is the most recent person to win a match.
The overall champion is the person who has won the most
championships.
You are granted a sysop-configurable number of stamina points PER
DAY. Each time you use a hold or strike, you use a small portion
of your stamina points for the day. World League Wrestling 5.0
will record your stamina points at the end of the game. You must
have at least 300 stamina points to enter a wrestle match.
THE LESS ENERGY YOU USE PER MATCH THE MORE MATCHES YOU CAN WRESTLE
PER DAY.
At times your manager will assist by distracting your opponent,
slipping you an illegal object, etc....
Typing '22' will get you out of the game. If you have won at least
two rounds, you will have won the game. Important Note: Please remember that
you are only allowed 20 tries with each hold, so use them wisely! WLW Version 5.0 - Users Guide - Page 10
----------------------------------
Features of World League Wrestling
----------------------------------
The features of World League Wrestling (Version 5.0) include:
<1> Compatibility with systems that are compatible with
PCBOARD.SYS, USERS.SYS, DOOR.SYS, CALLINFO.BBS,
DORINFOx.DEF, CHAIN.TXT, or SFDOORS.DAT for interfacing
to the BBS.
<2> Generates online "WLW Heavyweight Champion" (ASCII and ANSI) files
that can be placed elsewhere on your BBS system. (Like the
bulletin or as a welcome screen section)
<3> World League Wrestling will exit back to the BBS if it
detects no keyboard activity for 4 minutes (in
general). At input prompts, it will return to the BBS
after 3 minutes of inactivity.
<4> World League Wrestling automatically determines if the
remote system has ANSI capability. If it does, the
user will see the ANSI graphics screens.
<5> Includes support for the use of fossil drivers and non-standard
IRQ'S.
WLW Version 5.0 - Users Guide - Page 11
---------------------------------
Setting Up World League Wrestling
---------------------------------
Please run the program CONFIG.EXE to create your configuration files
for each node on which you intend to run World League Wrestling.
Please note the following:
-------------------------
When using PCBOARD.SYS, World League Wrestling requires that PCBOARD.DAT be
in the same directory as PCBOARD.SYS. World League Wrestling also accesses
the USERS file and gets the path from PCBOARD.DAT. When using USERS.SYS,
World League Wrestling also accesses PCBOARD.SYS, PCBOARD.DAT, and the USERS
file.
The DOOR.SYS file used by World League Wrestling is the standard 52 line GAP
(tm) file.
The CALLINFO.BBS file used by World League Wrestling currently contains 36
lines.
Fossil Driver Support
---------------------
World League Wrestling supports the use of Fossil drivers. To tell WLW
to use the Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on
the command line when running the door. For example:
WLW5 WLW.CFG /FD
indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
driver is detected, World League Wrestling will print a message to that
effect and exit the door gracefully.
Environment Variables
---------------------
World League Wrestling supports COM 1-4 on the standard IRQ's:
COM1/COM3 = IRQ4 and
COM2/COM4 = IRQ3.
If you wish to use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ number after the
configuration filename. For example, if you want to use COM1 and IRQ5, the
command line passed to WLW would be:
WLW5 WLW.CFG /5 or
WLW5 WLW.CFG /%IRQ% for the environment variable.
The /5 tells World League Wrestling to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4
that is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard
IRQ's.
When specifying the location of the system file on line 1 of the doors .CFG
file, you may use the environment variables %pcbdrive%, %pcbdir%, %pcbnode%,
and %wcnodeid%. Some examples:
WLW Version 5.0 - Users Guide - Page 12
PCBoard:
USERS.SYS in C:\PCB - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\USERS.SYS
USERS.SYS in C:\PCB\NODE1 - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\NODE%pcbnode%\USERS.SYS
Wildcat!:
USERINFO.DAT in C:\WC\NODE1 - C:\WC\NODE%wcnodeid%
Non-PCBoard systems may use the PCB environment variables by setting them
in either AUTOEXEC.BAT or in the batch that runs the door. For example:
SET PCBDRIVE=C:
SET PCBDIR=\BBSDIR
SET PCBNODE=1
---------------------------------
Upgrading from WLW 4.0 to WLW 5.0
---------------------------------
Please note that World League Wrestling 5.0 is compatible with
WLW 4.0. World League Wrestling 5.0 will look for your current USERS.DAT
file for WLW 4.0. If it does not find the USERS.DAT file, it will create
a new one. Therefore, if you wish to continue with the current status of the
game make sure your old USERS.DAT file is in your WLW5 directory. If not,
simply leave it out of the WLW5 directory and a new game will begin.
------------------------------
Running World League Wrestling
------------------------------
First, create a directory called "WLW". Then copy all of the files in
MSIWLW5.ZIP into it.
WLW Version 5.0 - Users Guide - Page 13
The following command must be present in the file you use to invoke door
programs:
CD\WLW <- Path where the WLW files reside
WLW5 WLW.CFG
- or for multinode systems -
CD\WLW
WLW5 WLWx.CFG
with "x" being your node number.
That's it!
World League Wrestling creates a file called USERS.DAT that contains the
players' names and information. It also creates a file called DFRAME.ERR,
which will list any errors that the program might have encountered. If you
get errors, please bring them to my attention.
--------------------------------
Resetting World League Wrestling
--------------------------------
To reset World League Wrestling, delete the Users.dat file that it
creates, if you wish to delete the current players and their player
information. Also delete "WLW5.BUL", "WLW5.BLT", AND "WLW5G.BLT".
